This video is very controversial, and had VERY provocative images.
Lily stated the video was a satirical peace about the stereotype women have to face on a daily basis in the Music industry.

The lyrics are really on point! They portray what women have to go through, and how men have it a lot easier. I feel that this song has a powerful message that it really isn't easy for us females in this society always being objectified. Thanks for bringing awareness to this topic!
ReplyDeleteYes! I agree it does have a powerful message, but sadly in our society we tend to find the negative things in everything. The reason this song is controversial is because people criticize the provocative images and also condemn her choices of hiring black women as her dancers. They believe while she tries to higher the standards for women in the rap industry, she in effect uses black stereotypes. This obviously wasn't her goal but a mere coincidence. Any thoughts on that?
DeleteAlso what were your first thoughts of the video. The 1st time i saw it, I was shocked and to tell the truth appalled because I don't like watching women act in that way. So right away i closed it. Then when I started this research paper I thought maybe I should try again, and i'm happy I did. Go Lily Allen!
